Through a blend of commentary, observations, and anecdotes, this blog shares a bird’s-eye view of my times as a guest/substitute teacher in a major Midwest city school system.

Originally intending to do this infrequently, it has become a full-time pursuit for the time being, still allowing me the  window of flexibility I need as a freelance writer.

It’s given me an opportunity to work with hundreds of students, plus other teachers over the years, and the experience has raised my consciousness to the inequalities and shortcomings that teachers work with daily.

I applaud every adult who works with children in our school systems, as they are the footsoldiers in an uphill battle to develop young minds into critically-thinking, lifelong learners.
